Health risks regarding newborn baby with 2 cats and a litter tray in the same room?
Hi Guys,
My brother and his girlfriend have a new born baby living in his bedroom at my mothers home sized 9x6ft with 2 cats who never leave that room so the litter tray is in there as well! I wondering what the health risks are short term and long term?

As long as things are kept relatively clean, there shouldn’t be any risk at all.

Not only is it very unsanitary if the baby gets in it, but there is also a disease called “Toxoplasmosis” that can be very harmful to developing or weak immune systems. None.
Litter boxes are a risk to pregnant women, not infants, and even then the risks are low and toxoplasmosis can also be transmitted through undercooked meats.
Kids raised in less clean environments such as around farm animals and pets tend to have fewer allergies and be healthier.

it is quite unhygienic living in one room with a baby and 2 cats, cats not to mention need space and shouldnt be trapped in one room forever, and the litter tray can expose all sorts of germs, when the baby gets older it can be dangerous if they touch it because of germs in the cats poo and wee which can in fact make a baby blind and is also dangerous to a pregnant woman. the cats should be given more freedom and the litter tray put in the bathroom. but as long as it is clean and the baby is no where near the tray and the cats are kept clean then it shouldnt cause any health risks.
