Well you’ve plenty of time to find accommodation.More realistically I think us$150 or $a200.Try to get a nz newspaper on the net.

This is a very difficult question to answer because you give almost no information about yourself. I see from another question you ask that your daughter is coming to Otago University to study. Does this mean that there are two of you wishing to occupy the flat or motel?? Also you don’t say when in February you are coming. Are you coming prior to the start of the new university year to have a look around or after it has started??
The chances of finding accommodation in a flat, motel or appartment for under $200 per week in February are next to zero, especially if you dont have transport and want to be close to the city. Remember that February is the height of the tourist season in New Zealand.
If you are alone, then only a backpackers will provide accommodation at below $200 per week. But, if there are two of you, then even backpackers/youth hostel will be over your budget. If you are coming in the first half of February it might pay you to check out the Otago University website. The universities rent out accommodation during student holidays at very reasonable rates. If you go to the site you will see a link to the accommodation they offer. However, again, if there are two of you, I dont see you getting in under $200 per week. If you’re on your own then you could do it as long as you dont want board. Alternatively, you could simply email the university and ask if they can put you in touch with someone who can put you up for a couple of weeks within your budget. I would say that other than the university or backpackers, the only other options are boarding in someone else’s house; perhaps some other students.
Whichever way you want to go, contacting the university is a good option because they may be able to arrange accommodation or point you in the direction of whatever is available.
Finally, it’s always worth a google or yahoo search on ‘Dunedin accommodation’ (but dont hold your breath).
Good luck!!

Renting flats down in dunedin is really cheap. Thats what you would pay in auckland(the most expensive place to live in nz, how i know i live here)its cheap because of the university down there. Look up the new zealand herald online and there you can find some, or alternatively you can try trademe.co.nz
